 Inventory Update

There will times when it becomes necessary to make a change that will affect a large number of parts. The Update function is used to change multiple records all at once rather than one at a time. First the inventory part records must be filtered down to only those that require the change. This is accomplished by selecting appropriate Search Criteria; it may be a certain category or vendor, coupled with some type of partial part number or description that these items have in common. Once you have performed the search and the range of part records is selected, the Update function becomes available.

Updates made via the Inventory Update dialog box are only applied to those parts that are currently selected in the Inventory List dialog box. Take care that you have selected the correct inventory records before initiating the Update process.

The Inventory Update dialog box allows you to change Vendor assignment, update list price by a percentage and/or change the line code for these parts. This is much faster than finding, opening and updating each item and repeating the process many times. Be sure that the part number is the same if changing vendor; if not consider entering a new part record as the line code could be different as well. Please note that if Price Update % function is used, the selected parts will have their User Entered Sale boxes checked because this type of price override is created and applied manually, which defeats the markup specifically calculated by the matrix.

Because the Matrix Pricing is such a powerful feature, it is defaulted to No Change when the Inventory Update window is first opened. Here are the Matrix Pricing options that can be applied to your selected range of part records: Disable Matrix Markup: checks User Entered Sale boxes in all of your selected parts. This will stop the exposure of part cost for these items to the matrix to create system-calculated selling prices. The prices will be locked where they are at this moment and users will need to revisit these records individually to adjust the pricing of each as needed. Enable Matrix Markup:  unchecks all User Entered Sale boxes in this range of parts; then exposes those item part costs to the matrix, which then applies the current markup setting. Any previous user entered sale prices are replaced by matrix driven prices.

Once the changes are made ready, clicking OK will display a confirmation screen that recaps how many records are being updated, who the primary vendor is and what is being changed; price, line code, etc. When YES is clicked, the changes to this range of records will be applied.

The Inventory Update dialog box allows you to make list price percentage changes. Selections are available that allow you the flexibility to globally update all prices for all vendors, some prices for all vendors, or some prices for some vendors

The Inventory Update dialog box is selected by choosing the Update button in the Inventory List dialog box. Updates made via the Inventory Update dialog box are only applied to those parts that are selected in the Inventory List dialog box.

To Update a Vendor's List Prices:

1. In the Inventory List dialog box, use the Search feature to look up all inventory items that you desire the price update to effect.

2. Choose the Update button. The Inventory Update dialog box displays.

3. If you want to do a global vendor update, search all parts in step 1. Selecting a vendor from the Update screen will update parts found in step 1 which are also assigned to the selected vendor. Selecting All for vendor will update all parts found in search in step 1.

4. Enter the whole number that represents the percent change that you wish to make in the List Price Update (%) field. For example, if you desire to increase prices by "5%", enter a "5", not a ".5" or a "0.5".

5. Choose your Matrix Pricing options. This allows the User Entered List price (set in the Add/Edit  dialog box) to be set or reset. There are three choices:

No Change - Leave user enterded price and setting unchanged.

Disable Matrix Markup - Updates the user entered list price (if available) with the new price.  Updated user-entered list price remains in effect, overwriting the matrix pricing,

Enable Matrix Markup - Overwrite any user-entered list prices with matrix calcualted price.

6.     Select OK.

A dialog box asks that you confirm your price change.

7.     Select Yes.

The list price percentage change is made for all effected parts.
